Built with passion, Fueled by Emotion

Blacktrack Motors is the new custom motorcycles brand created by Sacha Lakic, an experienced automotive, furniture and architectural designer who runs a studio in Luxembourg and liked to add the occasional motorcycle to his portfolio.

Inspired by the fusion of emotion and technology embodied in motorcycles, Blacktrack Motors' raison d'être is to create exclusive, undiluted café racers.

Blacktrack's goal is to create machines designed for riders that are dissatisfied with modern motorcycle design - but still seek modern day safety, reliability and ride quality. These are not just showpieces, but practical vehicles - made for daily use on the ruban noir.

Leading the charge is his flagship model: the BT-01, based on the Honda CX500. Favored by despatch riders in the 80s for its reliability, it's now been reimagined as something far more exciting.

He decided to keep the bike’s overall design as sleek and minimalistic as possible in order to draw attention to the engine.

Sacha also liked the CX’s stock fuel tank. So he kept it, tilting it forward 10-degrees for a more dynamic feel. The Honda’s subframe wasn’t as fortunate though. It was replaced by a custom-made rear end that includes a mono-shock and solo seat arrangement.

The swingarm’s been reinforced, and the shock itself is an Öhlins unit lifted from a Ducati 851. It’s matched to a set of adjustable Marzocchi RAC forks up front—their beefy 50mm stanchions held in place by custom triple trees. There’s a hand-made fender mounted to it as well.

The wheelset is equally special: 17” Excel rims laced to one-off hubs. They’re kitted with Dunlop Sportmax Mutants—tires designed for supermotard use. Braking is handled by Nissin calipers, with a Rizoma reservoir up top. The engine’s been rebuilt too, and a CBR125 radiator plumbed in.

To match this CX500’s sporty lines, clip-ons and rear-sets have been fitted—the latter adapted from a CBR1000. And the cockpit has been trimmed down with a smaller headlight, speedo and tacho.

Emphasizing the engine layout even more is a gorgeous two-into-one exhaust system: starting with y-shaped headers and terminating in a box-shaped muffler underneath the bike.

Sacha’s finished his CX500 in a simple matte black, red and aluminum livery, similar to the colors of the Voxan Black Magic he designed ten years ago. (We love how all the engine fins have been polished for a contrast effect.) The bike now tips the scales at a mere 125kg.

The blueprint for the BT-01 was created when Blacktrack designer and founder, Sacha Lakic, customized a Honda CX500 that was found in pieces at a friend's garage. Captivated by the allure of the Honda's unique engine layout, he set about transforming the basket case into a sleek, modernized café racer.

The bike was subsequently featured on prestigious custom motorcycle website, Bike EXIF (eventually featuring second in their annual Top 10 list and 2016 calendar). The response was phenomenal, and Lakic soon found himself pressured to produce more of the same. Now, he's responded - with the Blacktrack BT-01.

Each BT-01 will start out as a hand-picked, 80s-model Honda CX500 - treated to a thorough overhaul before any other work commences. Everything will be seen to ensure optimal performance and reliability - from new pistons and rings, to a tailored wiring system.

As with the prototype, the BT-01 will be stripped of all superfluous bits, and redesigned to be more compact. And, most importantly, it'll be made significantly lighter.

The traditional café racer stance is present, thanks to clip-on handle bars and custom-made rear set foot controls. And a solo seat configuration hints at its uncompromising nature, complete with non-slip upholstery and contrast stitching.

The BT-01 is available in two editions; the BT-01R (Race Edition) and the BT-01S (Sport Edition).

The two editions are designed and built with different components but both machines promise an equally unique riding experience and head-turning good looks.

The production of the collectible BT-01R is limited to 5 machines. The BT-01R features top shelf components including Öhlins suspension, Brembo brakes, Mikuni carbs and carbon fiber bodywork.

The BT-01S is available in a small series of 20. The BT-01S is a raw cafe racer with great performance that can be customized with any BT-01R parts, either before the production or even after delivery.

Every detail will be given the level of attention that you'd expect to see on a bespoke motorcycle, all wrapped up in a chic, timeless package.
