For the longest time, we looked for motorcycle jackets designed for everyday riding that also looked good off the bike. Not "vintage or retro" but with a modern-classic and timeless feel and fit. We wanted something that just didn't exist. We eventually decided that we would have to make them from the ground up, just like the bikes we ride. The results are uncompromising, self-validated jackets, you see them, you must have them, end of story. Actually, just the beginning.
Every function of our jackets has been designed to work with the riding position. We really hated how certain jackets prevented us from moving around or bunched and pinched us in places. Our jackets have been developed to be flexible where they should be and breathable for those hot days - all within a slim, flattering fit.
We spent as much time developing our jackets on the bike as well as off the bike so that you look and feel comfortable on your morning ride to work and then to the bar afterwards without looking like a Power Ranger.
We knew that great aesthetics do not need to be sacrificed for function.
Pagnol Jackets are made from tough yet supple cow hide leather and constructed to ensure maximum abrasion resistance and durability through everyday riding. While this is not a replacement for your full race leathers or a full performance jacket, we also didn't create "fashion" jackets to primp around in.
Pagnol is manufactured at a "Socially Responsible" Certified Factory and from grass fed cattle.
The brand was initially created by Paulo Rosas, designer-owner of www.SpeedMachinesDesign.com . Later Pagnol and the first M1 jacket resulted from a crazy series of coincidences and intersecting interests with James Yang, owner of www.hammerbeast.com . While the M1 jacket is geared towards the everyday rider, the founders of Pagnol happened to meet at a trackday at Willow Springs International Race Way. They began talking and realized their visions were almost the same!
They both wanted to create fully functional motorcycle jackets and gear with a tasteful, modern and yet timeless feel and with a slim fit.
They had spent years researching and working on a very similar goal individually! So the next natural step was to combined talents and resources.
Between them at Pagnol, they have design experience in MotoGP, AMA and CEV Repsol, moto apparel design, fashion design, industry media, custom motorcycles and industry retail. This has proven to be a very complimentary collaboration.
After many iterations, they arrived at the M1 jacket, the culmination of several calculated design decisions and which is fast becoming a modern-classic. Preceding it is the M2 , the more modern-architectural of the two and yet, both can be worn with a modern naked bike to a retro classic, "that's" the beauty of Pagnol.
Thank you to the guys at Saint for their great moto kevlar chino pants on the M2's photo shoot!

In the same way a bike builder creates a new bike or a moto company releases a new model sparingly, Pagnol will release a well thought out new style "one at a time" - not a "collection" to "see what sticks". We aren't confined to seasons, deadlines or bottom lines, so we might bring out a spring looking jacket in winter or a winter looking jacket in summer. We are simply trying to bring motorcyclist premium options that tick every box on the must-have list with no set schedules and limits. We spend a significant amount of time "field testing" our own designs so you can be sure that a lot of rider thought has gone into each decision and not some accountant at the other end. Expect to see new offerings and accessories on an ongoing basis!
